🌿 Do your soaps contain lye?

Yes, lye is used during the soapmaking process — but no lye remains in properly finished soap.

Lye is an essential part of traditional soapmaking. During saponification, lye reacts with the oils and fats to transform them into soap and naturally occurring glycerin.

Once saponification is complete and the soap has properly cured, the lye has been consumed in the chemical reaction. What remains is the finished soap.

We believe in being precise about our ingredient sourcing. Some of our ingredients are certified organic, while others may be organically produced or carefully sourced without organic certification. We don't use the word “organic” to imply that an entire product is certified organic when it is not. Instead, we identify organic ingredients specifically and clearly.
